The short story: Hopelessly geeky. That's really all you need to know.

You're still reading, huh?

The long story: I'm a college sophomore in the fall, at the University of Minnesota: Twin Cities. I'm majoring in Aerospace/Aeronautical engineering. I love science, and building things, and airplanes, so that will combine all three... Also possibly things that catch on fire and/or explode, if I go into rocketry (unlikely, as I like the aerodynamics part of aerospace, but likely, as I'm interested in spacecraft more than aircraft. Who knows, really). I'm a member of the University of Minnesota Solar Vehicle Project, as a driver for the car and one of the lead designers of the aeroshell for the new car. I play Capture the Flag all over campus every other friday.

Music: I love jazz. Also most forms of ska. I'll listen to anything that doesn't suck. Rap and country are on my list of things i'd rather not listen to, but this year I've gained the skill of blanking them out if I have to.

I'm also heavily into electronics, and computers especially. Specifially, Macintoshes. I respect PCs for the hardware (some of it. x86 proccessors (especially P4s) are horribly inefficient pieces of crap, but the rest is good), but frankly, the OS sucks, and nothing else comes close to OS X for user friendly-ness. My main machine is brand spankin' new Powerbook. 17', 1.67GHz, and 1GB of RAM. A heavily upgraded Rev1 350Mhz B&W G3 was my former machine, it had 1GB of RAM (Max) and a Tempo Trio ATA-133 card, with a 30GB and 40GB drives attatched. I was contemplating proccessor upgrade (1.1GHz G3 (750GX)) from Powerlogixs and an ATI Radeon 9200, which would pretty much make it as good as it could be. But then it died the day after i ordered my PowerBook, lighting killed the Tempo card, to which the boot drive was attatched. I think some other stuff was damaged as well, but I haven't tried much to get it going yet since i was still playing with my new PowerBook at the time, and now it's back home in Nebraska, 6 hours away.

My current project is a PowerBook G3 "Pismo" mobility powerhouse and wardriving machine.
It's currently running Mac OS 10.4.3, it's got a 100GB hard drive, a gig of RAM, and a 400MHz G3 proc. it lasts 10 hours on-the-go with a 7200mAh battery and a 5400mAh battery. It's got a dual wireless card setup that kicks ass.

My basement at home is full of old macs ranging back to the late 80's

I also love cars. Anything with a manual transmission makes me happy, but my favorite cars are from the late 60's, that post-tail-fin era when all of the needless chrome and shit was dropped, but when cars still had acres of glass and auto-makers still knew how to make sexy curves. I drove a '90 Toyota Camry 5-speed back home, but if i had to choose, i'd say a '69 Datsun SSS coupe is the car for me. But since those were never sold in the US, I'd settle for a two-door 510 of the same vintage. Or a '68 BMW 2002. The BMW is my favorite, but they're a lot rarer and more expensive. And more importantly, parts are incredibly expensive. The Datsun can take parts from a lot of newer Nissans all the way up until the mid-90's... But i'm rambling.

I've been on the University of Minnesota Solar Car Project since September of '05. I'm on the a driver of the car and a member aero team, and it looks like the 2007 Wolrd Solar Challenge car is shaping up to kick Michigan's pansy ass.

I play the Cello, Bass Clarinet, and Tenor Sax. The Bass Clarinet is the only one i'm really good at. Sadly, I don't have time to be in the U Band or anything this year, so my skills are being neglegted. Maybe next year...

I love discussion about politics and current events.

I'm an athiest, but I don't get in people's faces about it. Unless they try to push their religion on me, then we're in for some FUN! Intelligent Design makes me angry.

On the whole I'm pretty open minded, and fairly liberal.

I'm not artistic, but I am very creative.

I'm rather cynical.
